The short version

Monero is a privacy coin launched on 18 Apr 2014 with no premine and no company: a volunteer Core Team oversees it and miners get the full block reward. Since May 2022 a tail emission of 0.6 XMR per two-minute block means supply has no cap. On 5 Oct 2026 a test network forked to trial FCMP++, a privacy upgrade whose mainnet date is not set (non-binding aim: 2027). On 31 Oct 2026 one XMR cost C$820.78. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +62.3% in Canadian dollars, and it was 25.8% below its all-time high of C$1,107 set on 14 Jan 2026.[1]
