The short version

Dash is a proof-of-work payments coin launched on 18 Jan 2014 by Evan Duffield, with a second tier of masternodes (1,000 DASH collateral) that run InstantSend, ChainLocks and CoinJoin. Block rewards split 20% to miners, 60% to masternodes and 20% to a treasury that masternode votes allocate. Dash Core Group released Dash Platform v1.0 on 29 Jul 2024, and the chain's last halt was a 16-hour stall on 21 May 2023. On 31 Oct 2026 one DASH cost C$68.42. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +61.0% in Canadian dollars, and it was 96.4% below its all-time high of C$1,916 set on 19 Dec 2017.[1]
