About CoinIvy

CoinIvy is a fact-check site for crypto coins, made in Calgary, Alberta. Type a coin's name or ticker and you get the short version, the same 9 checks for every coin, who controls it, its supply, how it trades, how coins like it have done in the past, and red flags. It covers 187 coins, from Bitcoin to small tokens. Prices show in Canadian or US dollars.

What CoinIvy does not do

It never tells you to buy, hold or sell, never rates or scores a coin, and never forecasts prices. It promotes no coin or token, has no affiliate links and takes no payments from coin projects.

How CoinIvy makes money

Today CoinIvy earns nothing: there are no ads and no sponsors yet. To keep the site free, it plans to add ads from ad networks and a sponsored card on coin pages. Whatever is added, these rules apply:

  1. CoinIvy promotes no coin or token, paid or unpaid.
  2. Money never changes the facts. No payment changes a check, a red flag, a source or the order of search results.
  3. Every paid item is labelled "Advertisement" or "Sponsored". Ads come from ad networks; CoinIvy does not choose each one.
  4. Sponsors are services, never coins: a wallet, tax software, a security tool, an education service or an exchange; never a coin, a token or a token sale.
  5. Corrections are free for everyone.

What is checked

Where the facts come from

Free public sources, each named on the page where it is used: CoinGecko for prices and supply, DefiLlama for fees and revenue, GoPlus for token-contract permissions, the Bank of Canada for exchange rates, and project documents and public records. The History card uses CoinMarketCap's weekly rankings since 2013, including coins that later disappeared.

How often it is updated

Once a month. Every page shows the date its facts were checked. The facts on this version were checked on 31 Oct 2026.
