The short version

EGLD is the staking and fee coin of MultiversX, a blockchain launched as Elrond in Jul 2020 with 20 million coins, stewarded by the MultiversX Foundation (Vaduz, Liechtenstein) and built by MultiversX Labs (Romania). A new economic model on 2 Dec 2025 replaced the 31.4 million cap with tail inflation. Supernova cut block time to 600 ms on 10 Sep 2026; nine days later the network halted for five days after an exploit attempt. On 31 Oct 2026 one EGLD cost C$4.67. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +22.5% in Canadian dollars, and it was 99.3% below its all-time high of C$694.49 set on 23 Nov 2021.[1]
