The short version

Compound is a lending protocol founded by Robert Leshner and Geoffrey Hayes in 2018; COMP is its governance token, and the fee switch that could pay holders is off. The Compound Foundation runs a DAO-funded US$52M, two-year V4 programme, while a delegate disputes its handling of reserves. On 29-30 Oct 2026, supply was paused on major V3 markets during an incident on Ethereum mainnet. On 31 Oct 2026 one COMP cost C$28.83. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +24.3% in Canadian dollars, and it was 97.2% below its all-time high of C$1,034 set on 11 May 2021.[1]
