The short version

CELO pays fees, is staked and governs Celo, a mobile-focused payments network that moved from its own blockchain to an Ethereum layer-2 in Mar 2025. It was built by cLabs, co-founded by Rene Reinsberg, Marek Olszewski and Sep Kamvar, and the MiniPay wallet in the Opera browser runs on it. About 9.1M CELO was bought back between Apr and Oct 2026, and a pending proposal would burn 25% of sequencer revenue. On 31 Oct 2026 one CELO cost C$0.1069. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +21.1% in Canadian dollars, and it was 99.1% below its all-time high of C$12.38 set on 30 Aug 2021.[1]
