CosmosATOM
The staking and governance coin of the Cosmos Hub, a blockchain linked to others through IBC.
The short version
ATOM secures and governs the Cosmos Hub, a blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK and linked to other chains through the IBC protocol. Development is funded by the Interchain Foundation, a Swiss non-profit, through Cosmos Labs. On 22-23 Sep 2026 the Hub stopped producing blocks for about 25 hours after tokens tied to an attack on the Neutron chain moved onto it. On 31 Oct 2026 one ATOM cost C$2.11. From 31 Jul 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 its price changed +22.6% in Canadian dollars, and it was 96.2% below its all-time high of C$55.98 set on 19 Sep 2021.[1]
